Thing 16: PhotoPeach and Final Evaluation

PhotoPeach is a great and easy to use tool for personal use and in the classroom. I have compiled some pictures of my family and I over the summer and turned them into a short video. PhotoPeach lets you download photos put them in any order you want, add music, words and a tittle. Teachers could use this in many way in there classroom. Teachers can compile pictures of her students thought out the year and create a  video to share with all the parents at the end of the year. Students could also use this as a presentation tool, to present projects in class.

Summer Vacation on PhotoPeach

Final Evaluation

1. What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey?
My favorite thing was actually creating my blog. I had never thought about having one or even knew how to set one up but i am very glad i actually got to do it. I also really enjoyed exploring all of the web 2.0 tools. So many of them can be incorporated into the classroom to integrate technology.

2. How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals?
This project has really strengthened the goal of - viewing problems as challenges. Many of these "things" were very time consuming and hard to figure out. I ended up completing all of the tasks successfully.

3. Were there any take-a-ways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
I have learned so much by exploring all of these technology tools. I really enjoyed learning how all of the tools can be used in the classroom. I fell so much more comfortable using technology now.

4. What could I do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept?
Some of the links on this program could be fixed in order to improve this program. I found it very frustrating when i clicked on a link to find out how to do something and it didn't work properly.

Thing 15.5: Twitter

I now have a Twitter account! It was very easy to create. I have herd of twitter before but never thought about creating one. I can see many useful ways to use it in the classroom. I can post notices to teachers and students about upcoming events. I can also follow all different people and sites. I am currently following a couple educational news sites to keep me updates in the educational world, I hope to find many other to follow soon.

Follow me on Twitter @Ashleymilam

Thing 15: things like Skype

I already have a skype account but don't use it that much because i don't know how to use the web cam on my computer. I went to the Learning Librarian Blog and read about here experiences and what she thought about skype in the classroom.I loved her idea of two classes preparing a debate and then actually have the debate over skype. That is a very fun and different way to incorporate technology into the classroom. In middle and high school skpe could be used for some fun projects.

Thing 14: Podcasting and Bookmarking

There are many podcast out there that can be used in the classroom. I explored Texas Education on iTunes. There were a lot of different videos and tools that could be used in the classroom for students and as teacher resources. I thought the Texas Wildlife News, was very interesting. Theses videos could be shown in the classroom to keep students up to date about the wildlife around Texas. I could also be incorporated into a science lesson. There are several topics and videos about different animals, such as white noise syndrome killing bats, or how the oil spilled effected pelicans.
I also created a book marking tool called, delicious. It is very helpful in keeping all my favorite sites organized together. I am able to add numerous amounts of sites and sort them all into different categories to keep them organized and easily assessable.
